Retired Victor Wanyama visits Tottenham Hotspur for lunch

Former Kenyan midfielder Victor Wanyama returned to the Tottenham Hotspur training ground to join club legends and the first team for a special lunch.

Retired Kenyan midfielder Victor Wanyama returned to the Tottenham Hotspur training ground on Thursday, August 13. The former player was part of a group of club legends who attended a special lunch with the men's first team at Hotspur Way.

The visit took place ahead of the start of a new Premier League campaign. Wanyama, who is 34, announced his retirement from professional football in April. He noted that long-term knee issues were the primary reason for his decision to step away from the game.

During the event, Wanyama was seen interacting with both his former teammates and the current members of the Tottenham squad. He appeared to be in high spirits throughout the visit, maintaining the connections he established during his time in north London.

Wanyama's professional career lasted 18 years and saw him play in several different countries. His journey through football included stints in Kenya, Sweden, Belgium, Scotland, England, and Canada. He joined Tottenham from Southampton in 2016 and became a significant figure in the midfield, particularly during the era of manager Mauricio Pochettino.

After the lunch concluded, Wanyama used his Instagram account to share his thoughts on the occasion. His return to the training facility was met with positive reactions from supporters online.

His time at the club was marked by a commanding style of play that earned him a strong reputation among the supporters. The visit served as a reminder of his impact on the team during his years at the club.
