Ronaldo sets 25-season scoring record in Saudi Pro League 4-0 win

Cristiano Ronaldo scored as Al-Nassr beat Al-Riyadh 4-0, becoming the first player to find the net in 25 consecutive league seasons.

Al-Nassr began their 2026-27 Saudi Pro League campaign with a 4-0 away victory over Al-Riyadh. Cristiano Ronaldo scored in the match to become the first professional footballer to find the net in 25 consecutive league seasons, taking his official senior career total to 977 goals.

The 41-year-old Portugal forward began the game among Al-Nassr’s substitutes and entered in the 62nd minute. He needed 21 minutes to make an impact, finishing with his left foot in the 83rd minute after Ayman Yahya sent a low cross into the box.

Ronaldo’s league scoring run dates back to the 2002-03 season, when he scored for Sporting CP. The latest goal moved him beyond Zlatan Ibrahimović, whose previous mark stood at 24 consecutive league seasons.

The milestone leaves Ronaldo 23 goals short of 1,000 official senior goals. His career tally has been built during spells at Sporting CP, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus and Al-Nassr, alongside his appearances for Portugal.

Real Madrid accounts for 450 of those goals, while Ronaldo has scored 146 for Portugal, 145 for Manchester United, 130 for Al-Nassr, 101 for Juventus and five for Sporting CP. His contribution in Riyadh therefore carried both personal and team significance as Al-Nassr made a decisive start to the new league campaign.

Ronaldo’s future remains part of the wider context around the record. He has indicated that the 2026-27 season could be his last as a professional, while his Al-Nassr contract is scheduled to run until June 2027.
