Silesia Diamond League 2026: Richardson faces Jefferson-Wooden

Sha'Carri Richardson, Melissa Jefferson-Wooden and Julien Alfred headline the women's 100m at the Silesia Diamond League on August 22-23.

The Silesia Diamond League will take place at the Silesian Stadium in Poland on August 22-23, with Sha’Carri Richardson, Melissa Jefferson-Wooden and Julien Alfred among the leading names. The 2026 meeting is the third-to-last stop on the Diamond League calendar before the World Athletics Ultimate Championships in September.

The women’s 100m is one of the main attractions. Olympic champion Alfred will line up against world champion Jefferson-Wooden, Commonwealth champion Zoe Hobbs and Richardson. Poland’s meeting will also feature a two-round men’s 100m programme, led by world champion Oblique Seville, European champion Romell Glave and Commonwealth champion Emmanuel Eseme.

Kenneth Bednarek and Andre de Grasse add further strength to the men’s sprint field. In the 400m hurdles, Brazil’s Alison Dos Santos will meet Norway’s Karsten Warholm. Dos Santos owns the season’s fastest time at 46.48 seconds, while Warholm has run 46.61.

Paris 2024 hurdles champion Rai Benjamin will contest the men’s 400m flat against Botswana’s Busang Collen Kebinatshipi, the season leader with a 43.44. The women’s 400m brings together Olympic champion Marileidy Paulino, European champion Henriette Jæger and Polish contender Natalia Bukowiecka.

Jakob Ingebrigtsen is set to race reigning Olympic 1500m champion Cole Hocker, while Jessica Hull and Nikki Hiltz head the women’s 1500m field. Poland’s Klaudia Kazimierska is also entered in that race. Morocco’s Soufiane El Bakkali will compete in the men’s 3000m steeplechase, and the discus programme includes Kristjan Čeh, Mykolas Alekna and Henrik Janssen in a repeat of the European Championships final.

Dominica’s Olympic triple-jump champion Thea LaFond is another prominent entrant. Coverage will be available in more than 170 countries and territories through television partners and streaming platforms, with the Wanda Diamond League’s official YouTube channel carrying the meeting in selected regions. Local broadcast arrangements will vary by country.
