Sizwe Sibiya warns of a tough Stellenbosch test in PSL 2026

Sizwe Sibiya says Galaxy must stay adaptable against a versatile Stellenbosch side after their 2-1 defeat by Mamelodi Sundowns.

Stellenbosch have collected four points from three South African Premier Soccer League matches in 2026, leaving them seventh with one win, one draw and one defeat. TS Galaxy are second on 10 points, five behind defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns, as Sizwe Sibiya prepares his team for a demanding meeting with Stellenbosch.

Sibiya believes Stellenbosch are difficult to assess because their approach changes from one match to the next. He has urged Galaxy’s players to remain flexible rather than expect a familiar pattern from their opponents.

The Stellenbosch attack includes Jones, whom Sibiya identified as a major threat, while he also highlighted a left-footed player capable of causing problems from set pieces. He added that the team’s goalkeeper is another important strength.

Stellenbosch’s recent results underline their unpredictability. They began the sequence with a 3-1 win over Marumo Gallants, drew 3-3 away to Polokwane City, lost 1-0 to Amazulu, shared a goalless draw at Marumo Gallants and then beat Orbit College 2-0. Their league record has produced six goals and five conceded.

Galaxy go into the contest seeking a response to a 2-1 loss against Sundowns in their final game before the international break. Sibiya said the defeat did not deliver the outcome the team wanted, but described the mood in the camp as positive as the players look to recover.

The available fixture listing has Stellenbosch travelling to Golden Arrows on August 26 in the 2026 PSL. For Galaxy, the immediate focus is on handling a side Sibiya considers versatile, with preparation based on adaptability rather than a fixed reading of how Stellenbosch will play.
