Prince Owusu scores 12th MLS goal as Montreal beat Columbus 2-1

Ghana forward Prince Owusu scored his 12th league goal of the season as CF Montreal defeated Columbus Crew 2-1 in Ohio.

Prince Owusu scored his 12th league goal of the season as CF Montreal defeated Columbus Crew 2-1 at Lower.Com Stadium in Ohio. The Ghana international put Montreal ahead early before the visitors secured victory after the break.

Owusu needed only five minutes to open the scoring. He ran on to a defence-splitting pass from Hennadii Synchuk and finished from a tight angle, beating Columbus goalkeeper Patrick Schulte.

The lead lasted 15 minutes before Montreal’s advantage disappeared through an own goal by Thomas Gillier. Columbus were therefore level before the interval, leaving both sides competing for the decisive goal in the second half.

That goal went to Montreal when Noah Streit struck from 35 yards. His long-range finish came after the break and gave the Canadian side a 2-1 lead that they held through to the final whistle.

Owusu’s evening ended with 10 minutes remaining, when he was replaced by Alexis Sanchez. The Ghanaian forward’s 12-goal league total maintains his place among the most prolific strikers in MLS since his move to North America in 2023.

The result gives Montreal a win away to Columbus, while Owusu’s contribution continues a strong scoring run in the competition. His early finish was his latest league goal of the campaign and again placed the German-born Ghana international at the centre of Montreal’s attacking output.
