Springboks prepare for All Blacks series after Argentina tour
Rassie Erasmus says the Springboks are recovered and ready for the upcoming four-Test series against the All Blacks starting next Saturday.
South Africa's Springboks have completed two days of training as they prepare for a four-Test series against the All Blacks. The squad is focusing on alignment ahead of the opening match in Johannesburg next Saturday.
Following their 17-10 victory over Los Pumas in Argentina, the 26-man travelling squad returned to South Africa in two separate groups on Monday and Tuesday. The players spent much of the week recovering before returning to field sessions on Friday and Saturday.
Coach Rassie Erasmus noted that the training schedule was designed to allow the travelling players sufficient time to recover and adjust to the domestic time zone. He stated that the players are now well-recovered and prepared for the upcoming challenges. Erasmus compared the intensity of the series to the knockout stages of a World Cup due to the quality of the opposition.
Johan Grobbelaar and Elrigh Louw are currently playing for the Vodacom Bulls but are expected to rejoin the national team on Sunday. The coaching staff has been working behind the scenes to fine-tune specific areas of the game in preparation for the series.
The four back-to-back Tests will begin at Ellis Park. The series will then move to Cape Town Stadium on 29 August and FNB Stadium on 5 September, before the final match takes place at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore on 12 September.
