Springboks v All Blacks Cape Town Test kick-off set for 17:10
The Springboks will face the All Blacks in Cape Town at 17:10 on Saturday, seeking a response after losing the opening Test.
The Springboks will meet the All Blacks in Cape Town at 17:10 on Saturday, with the second Test of their four-match series following a heavy defeat for South Africa in Johannesburg.
New Zealand won the opening match at Ellis Park after scoring five tries to South Africa’s one. The result left the Springboks needing a sharper performance in Cape Town as they attempt to respond in the next meeting of rugby’s long-standing rivalry.
South Africa head coach Rassie Erasmus identified missed opportunities and avoidable mistakes as major factors in the loss. He said the team’s problems were not simply a matter of needing a wake-up call, with New Zealand’s intensity also contributing to the errors made by the hosts.
Erasmus also acknowledged that South Africa had failed to turn important moments into points. Against a team of New Zealand’s quality, he said, those missed chances can quickly alter the outcome of a Test.
Centre Jesse Kriel highlighted the same issue ahead of the Cape Town fixture. South Africa must finish its attacking opportunities more effectively, while preventing the All Blacks from gaining the same advantage when chances arise.
The Springboks will stay in Johannesburg until Wednesday before travelling to Cape Town on Thursday. The second Test therefore gives South Africa the opportunity to address its execution and discipline, with kick-off scheduled for 17:10 on Saturday.
