Tolu Arokodare refuses to discuss Wolves exit saga

Tolu Arokodare has declined to provide details regarding the recent friction at Wolverhampton Wanderers. The Nigerian international recently completed a loan move to Ajax on July 29, following a period of tension at Molineux.

Speaking to Algemeen Dagblad, the 25-year-old was asked to address the recent drama involving his departure. He stated that he cannot discuss the matter because he remains under contract with Wolves. He noted that he maintains respect for the club, the fans, and his teammates, adding that the truth will eventually be known.

Arokodare also addressed the official announcement from Wolves regarding his move to the Eredivisie. The club confirmed that Ajax has secured a purchase option, but the statement from César Peixoto’s side did not include well wishes for the striker. The player noted that a friend shared the statement with him and suggested the club's tone was telling. He added that he does not want to get into trouble.

The striker previously struggled to find form in England after Wolves spent over €25m to sign him from KRC Genk in September 2025. He recorded three goals and one assist in 33 Premier League appearances. Before the move to the Netherlands, interest was shown by Trabzonspor and Fiorentina. While the Championship side accepted a bid from the Turkish club, Arokodare preferred a move to the Serie A side.

During the period of uncertainty, Arokodare reportedly refused a request to leave a training session, which led to the manager cancelling the session. The player has since started well in the Netherlands, recording an assist in two matches. He stated that if he had done anything wrong, he would not hesitate to apologise, citing 'please', 'thank you', and 'sorry' as words he has no problem using.
