TP Mazembe beat Red Arrows 2-0 in Zambia pre-season friendly

TP Mazembe opened their preparations with a 2-0 win over Red Arrows in Zambia before their CAF Champions League meeting with Medeama.

TP Mazembe began their pre-season programme with a 2-0 victory over Red Arrows at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Zambia. Dieubeni Ndongala scored in the 43rd minute before Lise Nyembo added a second five minutes after half-time.

Ndongala’s opener gave the Congolese side the advantage shortly before the interval. Nyembo then extended the lead in the 50th minute, allowing Mazembe to complete a controlled win in their first warm-up match ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

The friendly was part of Mazembe’s preparations for a season that includes continental football. The Lubumbashi club are due to face Ghanaian champions Medeama in the CAF Champions League in a fortnight, making the Zambia fixtures an early test of their squad and match readiness.

Red Arrows entered the match after finishing second in the 2025 Zambia Super League with 63 points from 34 matches. Their league record was 17 wins, 12 draws and five defeats, with 44 goals scored and 22 conceded.

The Zambian side’s last five league results had produced two wins, two draws and one defeat. They beat Green Buffaloes 2-0 and Green Eagles 2-1, drew 0-0 away to Mufulira Wanderers and Zanaco, then lost 1-0 at Mutondo Stars.

Mazembe’s win provides a positive start to their build-up, while Red Arrows will turn their attention to their next competitive assignment. They are scheduled to host Inate Rouge in the CAF Confederation Cup on September 5, 2026.
