Uganda beat Tanzania by 90 runs to start Challenge League Leg 3

Uganda secured a 90-run victory over Tanzania under the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method to begin Leg 3 of the ICC Cricket World Cup Challenge League B. Playing at the University of Dar es Salaam Ground 1, the Cricket Cranes posted 142 for eight in a rain-shortened 20-over innings. Tanzania was subsequently bowled out for 71 in 17.4 overs, leaving Uganda with a revised target of 162.

Raghav Dhawan led the batting effort with 43 runs from 30 balls, hitting five boundaries and one six. He was supported by Simon Ssesazi, who anchored the innings with 35 runs from 40 deliveries. Sumeet Verma contributed 18, while captain Riazat Ali Shah added 11.

The bowling unit dominated the Tanzanian chase, led by Henry Ssenyondo, who took three wickets for seven runs in his four overs. Joseph Baguma also claimed three wickets for 13 runs from his four overs. Verma provided two wickets for six runs in 1.4 overs, while Dinesh Nakrani took one wicket to complete the demolition.

Dhrumit Mehta was the only significant scorer for Tanzania, making 24 from 15 balls. After his dismissal, the Tanzanian batting lineup failed to build any further momentum.

Uganda's performance maintains their position at the top of the standings. They now prepare for a critical fixture against Italy, a team they currently lead by two points. Italy enters the match with momentum following a 68-run win over Bahrain, where they scored 200 and dismissed Bahrain for 132. As Uganda seeks to defend their lead, the upcoming match against the Italians will serve as a major test for the top of the table.
