Victor Osimhen identified as Arsenal striker target

Arsenal are considering Victor Osimhen as a potential summer signing after finding Julian Alvarez too expensive to pursue.

Victor Osimhen has emerged as a potential target for Arsenal this summer. The Galatasaray forward is currently being considered as an option for Mikel Arteta's squad.

Arteta has identified Julian Alvarez as his primary target in the transfer market. However, the valuation placed on the Argentina international by Atletico Madrid has exceeded £100m, making the deal difficult for the Gunners to complete. This high price tag has acted as a barrier to the club's initial transfer plans.

Because of these financial constraints, Arsenal may look to change their focus. Osimhen is currently positioned just behind Alvarez on the club's list of preferred strikers. The move toward the Nigerian forward would represent a shift in strategy if the pursuit of the Atletico Madrid player remains unfeasible.

The 27-year-old has established a reputation as one of the premier strikers in Europe through his performances for both Napoli and Galatasaray. His ability to perform at the highest level makes him a viable alternative for the London club as they look to strengthen their attacking options.

It is not yet certain if Arsenal will officially begin formal proceedings to sign Osimhen. The club's next steps depend on their ability to navigate the high costs associated with their initial transfer targets. While the interest exists, the decision to pursue the Galatasaray striker remains to be seen.
