Warri Wolves add 14 signings ahead of new 2026/27 NPFL season

Warri Wolves have recruited 14 new players ahead of the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League season. The club has also retained 19 members of last season’s squad, giving coach Hassan Abdallah a registered group of 33 players.

The rebuilding follows a 14th-place finish in the 2026 NPFL campaign, when Warri Wolves collected 49 points from 38 matches. They recorded 13 wins, 10 draws and 15 defeats, scoring 35 goals and conceding 41.

Their recent form also shows the need for improvement. Warri Wolves beat Abia Warriors 2-1 and Plateau United 1-0, but lost 0-1 away to Kano Pillars before suffering 3-0 defeats at Nasarawa United and Kun Khalifat FC.

Abdallah said the previous season’s difficulties influenced the club’s approach to pre-season. The coach believes the recruitment drive and preparations have addressed the problems that affected the team and expects Warri Wolves to avoid another campaign of sustained struggle.

The manager described the process of reshaping the squad as demanding but thorough. He expects the new arrivals, together with the players who remained, to give the Seasiders a stronger platform for the new league season.

Warri Wolves will begin their campaign away to Bendel Insurance on August 30 in a South-South derby at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City. Abdallah recognises the difficulty of the fixture but believes his team’s work during the off-season has prepared them to seek a positive result.
