2026 WAFCON awards: Ngock and Chawinga lead winners after 3-0

Cameroon’s first WAFCON title shaped the 2026 awards, with Ngock named Player of the Tournament and Chawinga finishing as top scorer.

Cameroon’s 3-0 victory over Malawi in the 2026 WAFCON final was followed by a set of awards led by Ngock and Chawinga. The result in Rabat gave Cameroon their first Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title.

Cameroon’s success ended a long wait for a team that had previously reached the final three times without lifting the trophy. Their latest campaign combined the tournament title with strong individual recognition, as several of the leading honours went to members of the champions’ squad.

Ngock was named Player of the Tournament after Cameroon’s victorious campaign. The award placed her among the competition’s outstanding performers and added an individual distinction to the team’s first WAFCON championship.

Chawinga finished as the tournament’s leading scorer. Her goalscoring record was one of the main individual highlights of the competition, while Ngah Manga also played a central role in Cameroon’s final victory.

Ngah Manga scored twice against Malawi in the deciding match. Those goals helped Cameroon secure a 3-0 win and complete the campaign with the championship, although the supplied awards details do not identify her as the recipient of a separate individual prize.

Malawi ended the tournament as runners-up after reaching the final for the first time. Their appearance in the championship match marked an impressive campaign and gave the team a place in the history of the competition, despite Cameroon claiming the title in the final.
