Abdulmumeen Jimoh Tipped for Lekki Scrabble Classics in September
Reigning champion Abdulmumeen Jimoh has been backed to excel at the Lekki Scrabble Classics on September 26 and 27.
Reigning Lekki Scrabble Classics champion Abdulmumeen Jimoh has been identified as a leading contender for this year’s competition, scheduled for September 26 and 27. The title holder is expected to face strong opposition despite his status as one of the main players to watch.
Samuel Anikoh, president of Lekki Scrabble Club, believes Jimoh’s approach to the game gives him an advantage. He pointed to the champion’s discipline, humility, desire to win and consistent effort to improve as qualities that have helped him remain among the leading competitors.
Anikoh said Jimoh’s commitment to developing his game has helped him produce strong performances at major competitions. That progress, he added, makes the reigning champion a significant threat as he seeks to retain the Lekki title.
The club president also highlighted Enoch Nwali and Timilehin Doko as serious candidates for the trophy. He regards the three players as a closely matched group whose continued competition with one another has helped raise their standards.
Anikoh believes that Jimoh, Nwali and Doko could eventually make a mark beyond the local scene if they maintain their current development. Their rivalry has been presented as a positive influence, with each player pushing the others to reach a higher level.
While backing Jimoh to stand out at the September event, Anikoh also cautioned that the champion cannot rely on his previous success. He said the title holder must increase his efforts if he is to keep the prize, while expressing confidence that the competition will produce games of a high standard.
