Abubakar backs Wikki Tourists’ NNL preparations after Katsina camp
Wikki Tourists technical adviser Bala Abubakar says the team met its camp objectives and showed encouraging progress ahead of the new NNL season.
Wikki Tourists technical adviser Bala Abubakar has approved the team’s preparations after its training camp in Katsina, saying the exercise delivered the main objectives set by the club. The Bauchi-based side used the period to assess its players and work on team cohesion ahead of the new NNL season.
Abubakar said the camp gave the coaching staff an opportunity to examine the squad more closely. The technical adviser focused on how the players worked together and how effectively they could combine as a team during the preparation period.
Wikki Tourists also recorded a victory over Kano Pillars in a warm-up match at the Mohammad Dikko Stadium. The result formed part of the team’s work in Katsina as the players continued to build their understanding before the new campaign.
The technical adviser was pleased with the players’ approach throughout the camp. He highlighted their commitment and their overall display, indicating that the squad responded positively to the demands of the training programme.
Abubakar, however, acknowledged that the team still has some areas to address. His assessment was positive despite those minor weaknesses, with the camp providing the coaching staff with a clearer view of the improvements needed before competitive action begins.
The Katsina exercise therefore ended with Wikki Tourists encouraged by its progress and with further work identified. The warm-up win against Kano Pillars and the players’ effort during the camp gave Abubakar reasons to express confidence in the preparation, while the remaining shortcomings will require attention before the NNL season gets under way.
