Adams urges Ghana football to make content part of its infrastructure

Ghana Sports Minister Kofi Adams says clubs at every level must use regular content to keep fans engaged and attract resources for development.

Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams has called for content creation to be treated as a core part of Ghana football infrastructure, with clubs using media to maintain supporters’ interest between matches.

Adams made the call on Thursday at the Ghana Football Association’s 32nd Ordinary Congress at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram. He said modern football clubs must also operate as media organisations by consistently telling their own stories.

He identified training sessions, player profiles, team activities, rivalries, statistics and behind-the-scenes access as material clubs can share with supporters. Club history, academies and fan-related content should also form part of that regular output.

Adams said sustained content can help football build a wider commercial base. In his view, content draws attention, attention builds an audience, and a larger audience creates more opportunities for commercial partnerships and sponsorship. Those resources can then support football development.

The minister said the strategy should reach beyond the Ghana Premier League. Division One, Division Two, Division Three and Colts football should also develop content around their teams, players and communities.

He linked the strength of the Premier League to the health of the lower divisions, arguing that Ghana’s top flight cannot develop fully if the foundation beneath it remains weak. The broader the base of the game becomes, he said, the stronger Ghana football’s prospects of rising will be.
