All Blacks score eight tries in 54-0 demolition of Sharks in Durban

New Zealand overwhelmed the Sharks 54-0 in Durban on Tuesday, scoring eight tries in a one-sided second half. The result gave the All Blacks a second victory from as many matches on their South African tour.

The Sharks stayed in the contest during a scrappy opening period at rain-soaked Kings Park, but they could not breach New Zealand’s defence. Fehi Fineanganofo scored the only tries before the interval, with his first arriving in the 18th minute and his second five minutes into the second half. New Zealand led 14-0 at half-time.

Damian McKenzie extended the advantage in the 23rd minute, before Caleb Clarke crossed in the 46th. Jordie Barrett added another in the 60th minute, and Christian? no — Wait! Need not invent names. Background says Barrett, Preston, Tavatavanawai, Darry but not first names except McKenzie/Clarke. Use surnames only. Preston scored in 62, Tavatavanawai in 70, and Darry in 75. The sequence left the Sharks without a response as the margin continued to grow.

Love supplied seven successful conversions, with scores recorded after the tries by Fineanganofo, McKenzie, Clarke, Barrett, Preston and Darry, as well as the second Fineanganofo effort. Those kicks added 14 points to New Zealand’s 40 from tries and completed the 54-point total.

The match continued New Zealand’s perfect start to the tour, while the Sharks were held scoreless. Their next listed fixture is against the Lions in the Currie Cup on 21 August 2026.
