Ansah, Antwi help Beitar beat Ramat Gan 5-4 on Toto Cup pens

Ghanaian pair Eugene Ansah and Nana Antwi scored as Beitar Jerusalem drew 3-3 with Hapoel Ramat Gan before winning 5-4 on penalties.

Eugene Ansah and Nana Antwi were on target as Beitar Jerusalem beat Hapoel Ramat Gan 5-4 on penalties after a 3-3 draw in the Israeli Toto Cup. The result secured seventh place for Almog Cohen’s side in the final ranking match in Rehovot.

Ansah was central to Beitar’s early attacking threat. He hit the post in the fourth minute after entering the penalty area, and another effort from the resulting attack was pushed onto the crossbar. Beitar took the lead four minutes later, although the scorer was not specified in the match details.

Hapoel Ramat Gan levelled in the 14th minute when David Asenka converted a pass from Maxim Plukoshchenko. Beitar regained control in the 26th minute after Roi Elimelech’s effort was saved, with Ansah reacting fastest to the rebound and finishing from close range for a 2-1 lead.

Antwi came on in the 74th minute for Elimelech as Beitar continued to search for another goal. Instead, Ramat Gan moved ahead in added time when Moshe Semel struck from outside the penalty area.

Beitar were awarded a penalty a minute later, but Ziv Ben Shimol’s attempt was saved by Amit Reif. The attack continued, and Nadav Marković eventually scored from close range to restore parity at 3-3. The match then went directly to a shootout.

Antwi converted his penalty during the decisive contest as Beitar prevailed 5-4. The victory ended their Toto Cup campaign with a win and gave squad players further minutes before the start of the 2026/27 Israeli Premier League season.
