Bonsu Baah scores as Al Qadsiah beat Al Tai 5-0 in Saudi King's Cup

Christopher Bonsu Baah scored his first goal of the season as Al Qadsiah defeated Al Tai 5-0 to reach the Saudi King's Cup last 16.

Al Qadsiah defeated Al Tai 5-0 to secure a place in the last 16 of the Saudi King’s Cup. Christopher Bonsu Baah scored the second goal in the 18th minute, marking his first goal of the season for the Saudi club.

The Ghana forward started the match for Brendan Rogers’ side and helped Al Qadsiah take control early. Mateo Retegui had put the visitors ahead after 16 minutes before Bonsu Baah doubled the advantage shortly afterwards.

Bonsu Baah’s finish came from inside the penalty area after he used a deceptive movement to evade two defenders and the goalkeeper. The goal gave Al Qadsiah a two-goal cushion and added to a dominant first-half display.

Retegui struck again before the interval to make it 3-0. Al Tai were unable to recover after the break, with Mohammed Al-Qahtani adding a fourth goal before Gaston Alvarez completed the scoring for the visitors.

The result sends Al Qadsiah into the knockout stage’s round of 16, while Al Tai exit the competition. The emphatic win also provided Bonsu Baah with his first scoring contribution of the season as he continues his campaign in Saudi Arabia.

Bonsu Baah was included in Ghana’s squad for the 2026 World Cup. His next scheduled assignment with Al Qadsiah is a league fixture against Al Ittihad on Friday, August 21.
