Augustinus selected for CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers
Namibian assistant referee Eveline Augustinus is among 18 officials chosen for training at the CAF Women’s Champions League Cosafa qualifiers in Botswana.
Namibian assistant referee Eveline Augustinus has been selected for the training group at the CAF Women’s Champions League Cosafa qualifiers in Botswana. The 2026 competition will take place in Gaborone from 20 to 29 August, with eight clubs competing for the regional title and a place in the continental finals.
Augustinus is the only Namibian among the 18 match officials drawn from across the Southern African Development Community. Her selection adds another CAF-level opportunity as she continues to build experience as an international official.
The officials are required to arrive before the tournament and complete fitness checks before receiving clearance for match duties. The fitness assessment took place on Saturday, followed by the officials’ course on Sunday.
The eight participating clubs have been split into two groups of four. Gaborone United Ladies of Botswana, Zambia’s ZESCO Ndola Girls, Herentals Queens of Zimbabwe and Lesotho Defence Force make up Group A.
Group B contains South African side Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies, Mozambique’s Costa do Sol, Silver Strikers Ladies from Malawi and Eswatini’s Nsingizini Hotspurs. The line-up includes established clubs, former winners, recent finalists and teams appearing at this level for the first time.
The top two sides in each group will reach the semi-finals. The eventual champion will claim Cosafa’s only qualification place for the CAF Women’s Champions League continental finals, giving Augustinus and the selected officials a key regional assignment.
