Omamomi named chief scout for 3rd Senate President U-18 Unity Cup
Paul Ojo Omamomi has been appointed chief scout for the 3rd Senate President U-18 Unity Cup, with responsibility for identifying emerging talent.
Paul Ojo Omamomi has been appointed Chief Scout for the 3rd Senate President U-18 Unity Cup, where he will lead the search for outstanding players during the youth tournament. The appointment places the chairman of P.Sports Football Academy at the centre of the competition’s talent identification programme.
Omamomi will head the scouting team and oversee the assessment and recommendation of players aged under 18. His duties will include submitting reports on the talent identified each day, followed by a full report to the Technical Committee at the end of the tournament.
The scouting process is expected to follow the technical guidelines of the Grassroots Sports Federation, known as GRASOF. Omamomi will also be required to ensure that the work is carried out professionally, fairly and transparently as the organisers seek to create opportunities for young Nigerian footballers.
His appointment reflects his experience in grassroots football, academy administration and talent representation. The tournament’s organisers said those areas of expertise would support its objective of finding players and helping them access clear development pathways through football.
Coach Ahmed Tanko, the LOC Technical Head, and Hon. John Bassey Ekpenyong, GRASOF’s national president, backed the decision. They said the involvement of experienced football personnel would improve confidence in the scouting process and give grassroots players greater access to opportunities.
The 3rd Senate President U-18 Unity Cup is designed to use youth football to promote unity while supporting the discovery and development of emerging talent. Omamomi’s final recommendations will go to the tournament’s Technical Committee for consideration and further development planning.
