
Bernard Mensah assists as Al-Riyadh beat Al Zulfi 2-0 in King’s Cup
Ghanaian midfielder Bernard Mensah set up Al-Riyadh’s opener as they defeated Al Zulfi 2-0 to reach the next stage of the King’s Cup.
Bernard Mensah supplied an assist as Al-Riyadh defeated Al Zulfi 2-0 in the King’s Cup round of 32 at Al Zulfi Stadium. The result moved Al-Riyadh through to the next stage after an organised away performance.
Mensah created the opening goal in the 25th minute, finding Leandro Antunes with the final pass. Antunes finished the move to put Al-Riyadh ahead, giving the visitors a lead they carried into half-time.
Al-Riyadh maintained their shape after the interval and restricted Al Zulfi’s opportunities. Mensah remained involved in midfield as his side protected their advantage and managed the game on the road.
The visitors added a second goal in the 74th minute. Antunes completed his brace after Mahmoud Trézéguet supplied the assist, leaving Al Zulfi needing two goals to keep their cup campaign alive.
Al Zulfi attempted to reduce the deficit late in the match, but Al-Riyadh held their defensive structure and preserved the clean sheet. The win confirmed their place beyond the round of 32, while Mensah’s involvement in the first goal was his main contribution in the tie.
Mensah remained on the pitch until the third minute of added time, when Salman Matar replaced him. He received a Sofascore rating of 6.2 for his performance.
