Bibiani GoldStars sign former Asante Kotoko striker Kwame Opoku

Bibiani GoldStars have signed former Asante Kotoko striker Kwame Opoku on a one-year contract ahead of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League campaign. The 27-year-old forward was unveiled by the club on Sunday as the Bibiani-based side continues to strengthen its squad.

Opoku joins GoldStars after ending his second spell with Kotoko. His return to the Porcupine Warriors began with a two-and-a-half-year agreement, following previous spells outside Ghana with Algerian club USM Alger and Morocco’s Olympique Khouribga.

The striker first established himself at Kotoko during the 2020/21 season. He scored six goals and created three more in 16 appearances during that campaign, giving him a record of nine direct goal contributions from his first period with the club.

His second stint in Kumasi was less productive. Injuries restricted his progress and reduced his contribution to the team, preventing him from making the same impact as during his initial spell.

GoldStars will now look to Opoku to add experience and attacking output to a squad preparing for another Ghanaian top-flight season. The club, which has previously won the Ghana Premier League, is bringing in the forward as it seeks to compete strongly during the 2026/27 campaign.

For Opoku, the move offers a fresh start after his interrupted return to Kotoko. GoldStars will hope he can recover the scoring form he showed in his earlier spell and provide the goals needed to support the club’s ambitions in the new season.
