Erling Haaland’s new haircut became a talking point after Manchester City defeated Bournemouth 2-1 in the Premier League on Sunday. The Norway striker’s decision to abandon his long hairstyle prompted playful responses from Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Pep Guardiola and Jack Grealish.

Haaland had worn his hair long for an extended period before choosing a much shorter look ahead of the new Premier League season. The change surprised many people when he appeared with it during City’s victory over Bournemouth.

After revealing the new style, Haaland contacted three familiar figures through video calls. Guardiola previously managed him at Manchester City, Grealish is his current teammate, and Ibrahimovic is a former Paris Saint-Germain striker who had already warned Haaland about cutting his hair.

Ibrahimovic reacted sharply when Haaland called him. The former Manchester United forward told him to remove his contact after asking whether the haircut had resulted from a lost bet. His response referred back to the earlier warning he had given Haaland about changing his hairstyle.

Guardiola took a more positive view, although he expressed surprise at the transformation. The former City manager said Haaland should consider himself fortunate to have so much hair and added that he admired it.

Grealish also teased Haaland, saying the shorter cut made him appear around a decade younger. The three reactions gave Haaland’s new appearance a separate spotlight after City opened the occasion with a 2-1 league win over Bournemouth.
