Crested Cranes defender Sumaya Komuntale joins Yanga Princess
Uganda's Crested Cranes defender Sumaya Komuntale has signed for Yanga Princess on a deal running to August 2028 after leaving She Corporate.
Uganda defender Sumaya Komuntale has completed her move to Tanzanian Women’s Premier League club Yanga Princess. The Crested Cranes left-back has signed a two-year contract that runs until August 2028.
Komuntale joins the Dar es Salaam club from She Corporate, where she spent the second half of the 2025/26 season in Uganda’s Finance Trust Women Super League. Her arrival forms part of Yanga Princess’ preparations for the next campaign as the club reshapes its squad.
The former Tooro Queens captain is regarded as one of the leading left-backs in the region. Her deal is understood to be lucrative and places her among Yanga Princess’ better-paid players.
Komuntale has represented Uganda at several levels. Her international experience includes appearances for the Teen Cranes, the Uganda Queens and the senior Crested Cranes team.
She began building her club career with Tooro Queens before later playing for Kampala Queens and She Corporate. The move to Yanga Princess is her latest transfer outside Uganda.
Komuntale is known for her work on set pieces, accurate deliveries from wide areas and understanding of her defensive responsibilities. Those qualities will now be added to Yanga Princess’ squad ahead of the Tanzanian Women’s Premier League season.
