Dinice Royal captain credits unity after Island AllStars 1-1 final

Dinice Royal captain Tony Chukwuma says unity, discipline and focus helped his side recover from 1-0 down and win the Island AllStars title.

Dinice Royal won the Island AllStars Sports Club International Above-45 Football Tournament after coming from behind to draw 1-1 with Network Times in the final. Captain Tony Chukwuma said the championship was built on unity, discipline and a shared commitment to the team’s objective.

Chukwuma identified the squad’s collective mentality as the key reason Dinice Royal were able to recover from difficult moments. He said the players stayed connected even when disagreements arose during matches, ensuring that individual frustrations did not affect the wider effort.

That approach was tested in the final when Network Times moved 1-0 ahead late in the game. Dinice Royal found an equaliser to make it 1-1 and then went on to secure the title. For Chukwuma, the response reflected a team that remains focused on its purpose rather than being distracted by setbacks.

The captain also highlighted the experience within the squad, with several Dinice Royal players aged 60 or above. He said age had not prevented the team from competing successfully, stressing that unity and concentration were more important than the numbers attached to the players’ ages.

Dinice Royal had also dealt with an unusual selection situation during the tournament. Several members of the wider group had travelled the previous week, meaning the team initially had to compete with the players available. Some experienced players returned during the week and contributed to the decisive stages of the campaign.

Chukwuma credited the Island AllStars Sports Club management, especially its Strategic Management Committee, for continuing to develop new projects and ideas. He described the organisation as one that regularly seeks fresh approaches and said he expected further major initiatives from its leadership.

The victory gives Dinice Royal another major success in veteran football, with Chukwuma placing the achievement on the squad’s shared mentality rather than individual quality or age. His assessment was that the team’s ability to act together allowed it to withstand pressure, respond to adversity and finish as champions.
