Donte Johnson KOs Eric McConico at UFC 330 in 1:38

Donte Johnson stopped Eric McConico with a first-round punch at UFC 330, then accidentally caught the referee with an elbow during the finish.

Donte Johnson stopped Eric McConico by knockout at 1:38 of the first round on the UFC 330 preliminary card, improving his record to 9-0. The middleweight bout ended after Johnson landed a powerful right hand that sent McConico to the canvas.

Johnson had already been switching stances and using his jab before the decisive exchange. McConico remained in a southpaw stance as the fight developed, while Johnson briefly threw a pair of wide hooks that did not connect. The right hand that followed did, snapping McConico’s head back and putting him down.

Johnson continued with follow-up strikes after the knockdown. One back elbow then made accidental contact with the referee, who appeared annoyed by the incident as McConico remained dazed. Johnson moved away to celebrate after the stoppage.

The victory was Johnson’s third since joining the UFC and preserved his unbeaten start. His record now stands at nine wins without a defeat, with the latest success coming in the opening round rather than through a decision.

Speaking after the fight, Johnson described himself in faith-based terms and said he had carried out what he believed God instructed him to do. He also outlined an ambitious plan for the next stage of his career.

Johnson said he would like to move down from middleweight if his body allows it. His longer-term aim is to win titles at middleweight and welterweight before finishing his career at 205 pounds with a third belt.
