Falconets leave for Poland ahead of 2026 U-20 Women’s World Cup

Nigeria’s Falconets will depart for Poland on Monday as they begin the final stage of their preparations for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup. The team has spent several weeks in camp in Abuja before travelling to the host country.

Coach Moses Aduku’s squad will play Poland and Korea Republic in two friendly matches during the final preparation period. The fixtures will give Aduku time to assess his players, adjust his tactical plans and make further changes before Nigeria’s opening match.

Nigeria have been placed in Group F with Spain, China and New Caledonia. Their campaign will start against Spain at the Arena Sosnowiec on Monday, 7 September.

The Falconets will remain at the same venue for their second group match against China three days later. They will complete their group-stage schedule against New Caledonia at Stadion Miejski ŁKS on Sunday, 13 September.

The Poland and Korea Republic fixtures will provide Nigeria with opposition before the competitive action begins. Aduku’s team will use the matches to continue work started during the Abuja camp and prepare for a group that includes Spain, China and New Caledonia.

The trip also gives the Falconets time to settle in Poland before their first World Cup game. Nigeria’s opening assignment against Spain will be followed by the China match and then the meeting with New Caledonia, which will determine their route through the group stage.
