Ghana midfielder Steven Nufour leaves Criciuma as free agent
Ghana midfielder Steven Nufour has ended his Criciuma spell and is without a club after leaving the Brazilian side on 19 August 2026.
Ghana midfielder Steven Nufour has left Criciuma and become a free agent after his contract with the Brazilian Serie B club ended on 19 August 2026. No transfer fee was recorded for the departure.
The 21-year-old defensive midfielder joined Criciuma’s senior setup on 1 January 2026 after progressing from the club’s Under-20 team. He had moved to Criciuma’s youth ranks from Ceara Under-20s in February 2025, also without a recorded transfer fee.
Nufour’s senior involvement with Criciuma was limited to one Serie B appearance, in which he played for one minute. He also featured in the Campeonato Catarinense and Copa do Nordeste, as well as the Copinha and the CBF Brasileiro Under-20 competition.
His largest workload came in the Brazilian Under-20 league. He played nine matches and accumulated 498 minutes there, while making three Copinha appearances, three in the Copa do Nordeste and two in the Campeonato Catarinense. Including his brief Serie B appearance, he had 18 recorded matches across those competitions.
Nufour began his career in Brazil after leaving Ghanaian club Dansoman Wise in July 2023. He first joined Ceara’s Under-20 side and spent two seasons there before moving to Criciuma’s youth team.
Born in Accra, Nufour is listed at 1.91 metres and is right-footed. His playing record in Brazil includes both youth and senior football, but his senior contribution at Criciuma remained confined to that single minute in Serie B. He is now without a club following the end of his Criciuma spell.
