Ghana minifootball teams unveiled with Suniel as official sponsor

Ghana’s national minifootball teams were presented in Accra on Thursday, August 27, with Suniel announced as the official sponsor responsible for fully equipping the sides. The ceremony took place at the Ministry of Information and marked a new commercial partnership for the sport in Ghana.

The presentation involved the men’s and women’s national minifootball teams. The women’s national handball team was also part of the event and received official equipment from Suniel. Kits were presented to representatives of the National Sports Authority, the minifootball teams and the handball team.

Suniel chief executive Daniel Kotey Adjei said the company’s backing formed part of its wider effort to create opportunities for young people. He also described the arrangement as the first time a Ghanaian company had fully equipped a national team in the country’s history.

National Sports Authority Director-General Yaw Ampofo Ankrah welcomed the sponsorship as timely support for Ghanaian sport. He said the partnership could provide encouragement as the teams prepare for international assignments.

Minifootball Association of Ghana president Bernard Paakow Ekumah called for further support from the public and corporate Ghana. He said the sport was still developing and urged Ghanaians to identify with the national teams as they prepare for their next competitions.

The event was attended by sports officials including Association secretary-general Emmanuel Anyetei Adjei, NSA board chairman Dr Fred Awaah, Ghana Police Sports director ASP Bernice Rashidatu Abdulai Timbilla and Handball Association president Nii Lante Bannerman. Members of the national women’s minifootball and handball teams were also present.
