Hugo Broos questions Pitso Mosimane return talk for Bafana Bafana

Former Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has rejected suggestions that Pitso Mosimane should return to lead South Africa, arguing that the appointment would move the national team in the wrong direction rather than advance it.

Broos said South Africa should avoid repeatedly turning to the same established coaches whenever the national-team position becomes available. He believes the country needs a clear long-term plan, continuity in its work and room for younger coaches to develop.

The Belgian also used the debate to raise wider concerns about South African football. He pointed to allegations of weak administration, political interference and corruption in parts of the sport, saying those problems cannot be solved simply by placing one high-profile coach in charge.

Broos instead called for stronger structures, better youth development and improved governance. His position is that sustainable progress must come from the way football is organised and developed, rather than from relying on the reputation of a single appointment.

Mosimane remains among Africa’s most successful coaches. His achievements include several league championships and a CAF Champions League title, which have made him a prominent name in discussions about the future of Bafana Bafana.
