Ikorodu City’s NPFL striker Arumala completes Al Ittihad move
Joseph Arumala has left Ikorodu City for Egyptian Premier League side Al Ittihad after scoring 13 goals and providing two assists in the NPFL.
Joseph Arumala has completed a permanent move from Ikorodu City to Egyptian Premier League club Al Ittihad. The striker scored 13 goals and supplied two assists during the 2025/26 Nigeria Professional Football League season.
Arumala joined Ikorodu City before the start of the campaign and quickly became an important part of the Lagos club’s attack. His performances established him as one of the leading players in the NPFL and helped make him a popular figure among the club’s supporters.
His transfer comes after Ikorodu City finished fourth in the NPFL with 59 points from 38 matches. They recorded 16 wins, 11 draws and 11 defeats, scoring 42 goals and conceding 37, but the final position did not bring continental football.
The Oga Boys were also without a victory in their last five league matches before Arumala’s departure. They drew 1-1 away to Nasarawa United, shared a 2-2 result with Barau FC and drew 1-1 against Enyimba, before losing 2-1 to Enugu Rangers and 4-1 at Katsina United.
Al Ittihad are based in Alexandria, and Arumala will now continue his career in Egypt after one season with Ikorodu City. His pace, direct style of running and finishing were central to his impact in the NPFL, with his goal return making him a major attacking contributor for the club.
Ikorodu City have acknowledged the move with a farewell message for the forward and wished him success in Egypt. The club’s next league fixture is at home against Ranchers Bees on August 30, 2026, as the team begins life without one of its main attacking outlets.
