Jeremiah Wells fears UFC age may limit promotion after UFC 330 win

Jeremiah Wells submitted Myktybek Orolbai at UFC 330, improving his record to 14-4-1. The welterweight is now 5-2 in the UFC after securing his second consecutive victory.

Despite the comeback win, Wells raised doubts about his future with the promotion. Speaking after the fight in Philadelphia, he said he was concerned the UFC did not want to give him greater visibility because he is approaching 40.

Wells had already indicated in the octagon that he wanted a place in the welterweight top 15 or would consider retiring. He later clarified that he does want to return, but only if the promotion is prepared to move him forward after his latest victory.

The Philadelphia fighter believes his age is being judged too heavily. He said his physical condition feels closer to that of a 33-year-old and argued that his work with younger training partners supports his belief that he can remain competitive.

Wells added that he has not always been outspoken, which he feels may have affected how his fights are promoted. He said he could become more vocal or seek help to present himself more effectively if that would improve his chances of receiving greater opportunities.

For now, Wells says he still has a couple of years left in the sport. He is willing to continue if the UFC sees enough in him to advance his career, but said he could also end his career if he does not believe he is moving forward. He described Philadelphia as a fitting place to make that decision.
