KCCA face AFC Leopards at Nyayo Stadium in 2026/27 season test
Fresh from winning the FUFA Super 8, KCCA will use an August 22 meeting with AFC Leopards at Nyayo Stadium to assess their readiness for 2026/27.
KCCA will face AFC Leopards at Nairobi’s Nyayo Stadium on Saturday, August 22, in a pre-season test after winning the FUFA Super 8. The match will give the Ugandan side an early measure of its preparation for the 2026/27 campaign.
The fixture comes as KCCA work towards ending a trophy drought that has lasted seven seasons. Head coach Brian Ssenyondo sees the meeting with the Kenyan side as an opportunity to examine the team’s tactical level, combinations and ability to cope with pressure before competitive action begins.
Ssenyondo’s focus is not on the result alone. He wants the players to improve their match fitness and sharpen their understanding while also checking their physical and mental readiness for the demands of the new season. Playing in Nairobi against an established opponent will provide a different examination from the one KCCA faced in the FUFA Super 8.
AFC Leopards finished second in the FKF Premier League in 2025, collecting 64 points from 34 matches. Their record was 19 wins, seven draws and eight defeats, with 44 goals scored and 27 conceded. They ended that campaign among Kenya’s leading sides but remain without a league title for more than 30 years.
The Nairobi club’s recent form has been mixed. They lost 2-1 to Bidco United and by the same score at APS Bomet, before responding with victories over Homeboyz, Ulinzi Stars and Mara Sugar. Those wins came by 2-1, 2-0 and 2-1 respectively, giving Leopards three successes in their last five listed matches.
Leopards have also added Ugandan midfielder Taddeo Lwanga and goalkeeper Tom Ikara to their squad. They join compatriot Samuel Ssenyonjo, a former KCCA striker, as the Kenyan club prepares for its next league fixture against Bandari on August 30.
