Kenya sweep all four cross country golds at FEASSA Games 2026

Kenya won all four cross country gold medals at the 2026 Federation of East Africa Schools Sports Association (FEASSA) Games in Morogoro, Tanzania. The victories covered the secondary schools’ 6km girls’ and 8km boys’ races, plus the primary schools’ 2km girls’ and 4km boys’ events.

Venenza Chebet Masai of Kongit Secondary School led a Kenyan sweep in the girls’ 6km, finishing in 18:54.7. Clare Cheruto of Bishop Louis Secondary School was second in 18:58.1, while Naomi Chepkwemoi of Kibuk Secondary School took bronze in 19:07.3. Tanzania’s Hellena Daniel Samja was the leading non-Kenyan in seventh place, and Uganda’s Beliza Chebet finished eighth in 21:18.0.

Kenya also controlled the boys’ 8km through Emmanuel Kiprono of Kimuron Secondary School, who won in 22:25.6. Tanzania’s Bernad Emanuel Geay claimed silver in 22:46.8, with Kiprono’s schoolmate Wesley Kiplangat taking third after 22:51.8. Uganda’s best result came from Cosmas Amumpire of Mbarara City, who placed eighth in 23:34.2.

The primary schools’ races produced two more Kenyan victories. Ruth Chemei of Cheptigi Primary School won the girls’ 2km in 6:05.5, ahead of Pheline Chepkwemoi and Rehema Chepkorir, who recorded 6:08.0 and 6:09.5 respectively. Uganda’s Sarah Chebet was eighth in 6:25.4.

Abraham Kibet of Robinson Primary School completed Kenya’s clean sweep in the boys’ 4km with a time of 11:19.2. Davis Kiprono of Segot Primary School finished 1.2 seconds behind for silver, while Solomon Kibet of Tecla Lorupe Primary School took bronze in 11:22.7. Tanzania’s Nicolas Thimote Isdory was fourth in 11:31.4.

The cross country results reinforce Kenya’s strong start at the 23rd FEASSA Games. The races were held on a course at Morogoro Golf Course, while the wider competition continues in Tanzania before its scheduled conclusion on Saturday, 22 August 2026.
