Leeds and Ipswich interested in Real Betis midfielder Deossa

Leeds United and Ipswich Town are among the clubs monitoring the situation of Real Betis midfielder Nelson Deossa. The 26-year-old Colombian international could move to the Premier League this summer if a suitable financial and sporting offer is presented.

Deossa has expressed an interest in playing in England. While interest has also been shown by clubs in Brazil, Argentina, and Mexico, the player previously rejected a move to Vasco da Gama to avoid returning to South America. West Ham United and Wolverhampton Wanderers are also linked with the midfielder, though a move to the Championship is considered less probable.

Scouts from Leeds United and Ipswich Town were present to watch the player during a pre-season friendly in Dublin. Deossa scored during that match, which ended in a 3-1 victory for his side against Arsenal.

His standing at Real Betis has become complicated due to tactical shifts under Manuel Pellegrini. The manager has been deploying Deossa as a striker during pre-season while the club awaits the return of Cucho Hernández and the signing of a new centre forward. This change in role means the midfielder must compete for his usual position in the squad.

Deossa joined the Andalusian club from CF Monterrey in August 2025. During his first season, he made 33 appearances and recorded 1,491 minutes on the pitch. Although Real Betis were initially open to a sale, the club is now less inclined to let the player depart.
