Marcelo Allende enters final Sundowns season with no talks held
Marcelo Allende says he is in his final Mamelodi Sundowns season, with no discussions yet about extending his deal beyond June 2027.
Marcelo Allende, 27, is spending his final season with Mamelodi Sundowns. The Chilean attacking midfielder said his current contract runs until June 2027, but discussions about his future have not started.
Allende addressed the issue on Monday, making clear that he has not held talks with the club or any other party about what comes next. His immediate priority remains contributing whenever he is selected by the South African champions.
The midfielder joined Sundowns in 2022 after moving from Montevideo City Torque. The transfer followed his spell in Uruguay, where he had arrived from Magallanes. Sundowns paid €2.90 million for the player, whose current market value is listed at €2.5 million.
Allende has become an established member of the Sundowns squad since his arrival. He has made 177 official appearances for the club, scoring 16 goals and supplying 16 assists across those matches.
His role has also extended beyond regular midfield duties. Allende is among the more experienced players in the squad and has worn the captain’s armband when the club’s designated captains have been unavailable.
For now, the Chilean is choosing to keep his attention on the team rather than his contract situation. With no renewal discussions under way, his stated focus is on making the most of each opportunity during what he describes as his final season in Sundowns colours.
