Ghana forward Henry Addo joins Portugal's Tondela permanently

Ghanaian forward Henry Addo has left Maccabi Tel Aviv for Tondela on a permanent deal, signing a contract that runs until June 2028.

Ghanaian forward Henry Addo has completed a permanent transfer from Israeli champions Maccabi Tel Aviv to Portuguese club CD Tondela. The 23-year-old has signed a two-year contract that will keep him at Tondela until June 2028.

Tondela confirmed the move on Wednesday, August 19, with Addo taking the club’s No. 10 shirt. The Portuguese side has added the Ghanaian to its squad ahead of the new campaign as he begins another stage of his European career.

Addo joins Tondela after a spell with Maccabi Tel Aviv that began in February 2024, when he moved to Israel from Slovakian club Zilina. He made 31 appearances for Maccabi in all competitions and scored three goals during his time with the club.

The winger was part of the Maccabi team that won two league titles, a Toto Cup and a Super Cup. He also played 11 times in the club’s 2024/25 UEFA Europa League campaign, scoring twice in the competition.

Addo spent the 2025/26 season on loan at Serbian club OFK Belgrade, where he recorded 16 appearances and two goals. His experience in Israel, Slovakia and Serbia has now led to a move to Portugal, where he will seek to establish himself with Tondela.

The Ghanaian described the transfer as an important opportunity and said he intends to contribute fully to the team. He also underlined his attacking qualities and his desire to give Tondela supporters something to enjoy as he starts his Portuguese adventure.
