Nust crowned inaugural Inter-University Staff Sports Games champions
Nust Staff Sports Association topped the inaugural Inter-University Staff Sports Games after winning gold in darts, soccer and mixed volleyball.
Nust Staff Sports Association finished as the inaugural overall champions of the Inter-University Staff Sports Games after securing gold medals in three disciplines. Its victories came in darts, soccer and mixed volleyball, giving Nust the highest total in the overall standings.
Unam Central Campuses placed second, while Unam Northern Campuses finished third. The result marked a first championship for Nust in the staff competition and reflected performances across several sporting codes rather than success in one event alone.
Nust took first place in the darts competition ahead of Unam Central Campuses and IUM. In soccer, Nust finished above Triumphant College and Unam Central Campuses. The team also won mixed volleyball, with Unam Central Campuses taking second and Unam Northern Campuses third.
The association added two silver medals on the track, finishing runner-up in both the men’s and women’s relay events. Nust also earned bronze in tug of war, where Unam Central and Unam Northern Campuses occupied the two places above it.
Netball proved more difficult for the Nust contingent, but the team remained competitive across the games. Its combined medal haul and results in the different codes were enough to carry it to the top of the championship standings.
Nust staff sports coordinator Dimbulukeni Nauyoma said the title came from the athletes’ commitment, teamwork and consistent effort. The inaugural competition has established a platform for future inter-university staff sports events, with Nust’s victory underlining the sporting ability within its workforce.
