Matěj Jurásek set to join Sparta Prague on loan from Norwich

Matěj Jurásek is preparing to leave Norwich City to join Sparta Prague. The 22-year-old winger is expected to travel to the Czech Republic within the week to finalize the transfer.

The deal is structured as a loan move that includes an option for Sparta Prague to make the transfer permanent. This development follows Norwich City's €7m (£6.1m) investment to sign the player from Slavia Prague in January 2025.

Jurásek has struggled to establish himself at Carrow Road, making 21 appearances for the Canaries. During his time in England, he recorded one goal and two assists. Sparta Prague has been interested in the winger for a period, but the opportunity to secure his signature only emerged in recent days. Sporting director Tomáš Rosický has overseen a rapid move to bring the player to the club as soon as possible.

The winger's arrival in Prague comes as Sparta Prague looks to fill a vacancy on the wings following the departure of captain Lukáš Haraslín to Saudi Arabia. Jurásek previously played for Slavia Prague, where he made 91 competitive appearances and contributed 17 goals and 15 assists. While he is moving directly from Norwich, the switch to his former club's rivals is expected to remain a point of local controversy.

By including a purchase option, Norwich City retains a level of protection should the player's form improve in his homeland. The winger is expected to arrive in Prague before the end of this week to complete the necessary formalities.
