Tanzania's Neema Olomi leads Uganda Ladies Open by two shots

Tanzanian golfer Neema Olomi holds a two-shot lead after the first day of the 2026 Johnnie Walker Uganda Open Golf Championship. Olomi recorded a gross score of 75 at the par-72 Uganda Golf Club in Kampala.

Olomi, an Arusha Gymkhana Golf Club member, began her round with a one-over score on the par-5 first hole. She recovered to record even pars on 14 holes and secured a birdie on the par-6 13th hole. The scratch golfer previously led on the first day of last year's tournament and won the title at Entebbe Club in 2028.

Two players sit two strokes behind the leader. Tanzania's Hawa Wanyeche and Uganda's Judith Komugisha are tied for second place with scores of 77 after recording two birdies each. Komugisha, a member of the Ugandan national team, noted that the course conditions were good and her swing felt effective.

Four players are tied for fourth place with scores of 78. This group includes Keisha Kagoro, 2023 champion Peace Kabasweka, and three-time winner Martha Babirye. All three have previously represented the Ugandan national team.

Further down the leaderboard, Joyce Kisembo of Uganda and Victoria Taiko of Tanzania are tied for seventh with 78. Assa Nambogwe of Uganda and Ayne Magombe of Tanzania follow closely to round out the top 10.

Day two of the tournament will include participants from the bronze category and subsidiaries. The event is the opening stage of the 2026 Johnnie Walker Uganda Open Golf Championship.
