Mature Danlad returns to Kotoko ready to make impact after two seasons

Ibrahim Danlad is back at Asante Kotoko after two seasons away, with the 23-year-old goalkeeper returning to the Ghanaian club with greater experience and maturity. He has signed a two-year contract after leaving Ethiopian side Coffee SC.

Danlad’s return is part of a major recruitment drive by Kotoko, who added 12 players during the summer transfer window. The club is preparing for the new Ghana Premier League season, with the goalkeeper now seeking to make an impact after his time abroad.

The goalkeeper had been determined to return to Kotoko. His two seasons outside Ghana have brought changes to his personal development and his approach to playing, giving him a different level of experience before rejoining the Porcupine Warriors.

Danlad previously played a key role in Kotoko’s Ghana Premier League title-winning campaign in the 2021/22 season. His return therefore brings back a player who was involved during the club’s most recent championship success.

His first opportunity to appear again for Kotoko could come on August 28, when they face rivals Hearts of Oak in the third edition of the Democracy Cup. The match is scheduled for Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

The fixture would place Danlad’s return in a meeting between two of Ghana’s biggest rivals, although his immediate focus is settling back into the Kotoko squad and showing the benefit of his two seasons away. His new deal gives him a further two years at the club as he attempts to re-establish himself in goal.
