Moses backs Island All Stars to build veterans’ club beyond 60

Island All Stars coach Philips Moses says the club can become a formidable veterans’ football institution with players aged above 60 and 70.

Island All Stars coach Philips Moses believes the club can develop into a formidable veterans’ football institution, with some of its players still active beyond the ages of 60 and 70. He made the case after the team secured a medal in the third-place final.

Moses, who coaches Island All Stars Sure B Homes, regarded the team’s tournament showing as positive despite its failure to reach the championship match. He said the side had enough quality to contest the final, but was satisfied that it finished with a victory in the third-place fixture.

The match produced a high-scoring contest, an outcome Moses said was consistent with the team’s displays throughout the competition. Island All Stars had established itself as an attacking side from the beginning of the tournament, and the coach felt its offensive performance in the medal match reflected that identity.

Moses also described the club as a community that brings together people from several professional backgrounds. Its members include police officers, footballers, army officers, doctors and former players, creating a group built around experience as well as continued involvement in the sport.

The coach’s comments placed the club’s veterans’ programme at the centre of its identity. Players who would usually be outside the normal competitive age range remain involved on the field, while the club encourages more people to join and continue playing football.

For Moses, Island All Stars is therefore more than a tournament team. He sees its mix of professionals, former players and older active footballers as the foundation for a stronger institution, provided the project attracts wider participation. The third-place medal gave the team a positive finish, while his remarks outlined an ambition to grow the club around lifelong football and the experience of its veterans.
