Newcastle Red Bulls launch North East rugby development plan

Newcastle Red Bulls have launched a long-term plan with Darlington Mowden Park to strengthen rugby development in the North East. The partnership is designed to help the region become a major centre for the sport by connecting the two clubs more closely.

A central part of the project is the development of a shared pathway for players. Newcastle Red Bulls will work with grassroots players in the region, with the partnership focused on helping talent progress while also encouraging players to remain within the North East system.

Darlington Mowden Park head coach Darren ‘Daz’ Fearn will have a key role in the programme. The coach, who has recently taken up his position at Mowden, will be involved in the links between the clubs and in shaping the player-development route.

The arrangement gives the two organisations a formal structure for working together on coaching and player development. It also brings grassroots rugby into the wider plan, creating a connection between emerging players and the senior club pathway.

For Newcastle Red Bulls, the objective is to improve the regional environment for players rather than rely on isolated development efforts. The partnership with Darlington Mowden Park places retention, coaching and progression at the centre of the clubs’ shared ambition for North East rugby.
