Nigeria's Daniel Daga signs new Molde contract through 2031
Nigeria midfielder Daniel Daga has extended his Molde FK contract to 2031, weeks after returning to football following his court acquittal.
Daniel Daga has signed a new contract with Molde FK that will keep the Nigeria midfielder at the Norwegian club until 2031. The agreement secures the future of the 19-year-old after interest from several clubs across Europe.
Molde moved to retain Daga after his performances for club and country increased attention around his development. The club sees the midfielder as an important part of its plans for future domestic and European campaigns.
The extension comes only a few weeks after a major legal development in Daga’s career. In July, the Frostating Court of Appeal acquitted him of sexual assault allegations. He had been out of competitive football for 11 months during the proceedings.
Following the court decision, Molde confirmed that Daga was free to return to competitive action. The ruling ended a period that had interrupted the progress of a player who had emerged through Nigeria’s Flying Eagles and established himself as one of the country’s promising midfield prospects.
Daga has been noted for his composure, defensive reading of the game and ability to control the pace of matches from midfield. Those qualities have helped make him one of the more highly regarded young players in Scandinavian football and attracted attention from clubs in other parts of Europe.
The long-term deal gives Daga continuity at Molde as he works to rebuild the momentum of his career. It also represents the club’s confidence in his ability to develop into a significant midfield player after his extended absence from football.
