NPFL: Kun Khalifat FC sign goalkeeper Mathias Mallen from Solution FC

Kun Khalifat FC have signed goalkeeper Mathias Mallen from Solution FC as they prepare for the 2026-27 Nigeria Professional Football League season. The Owerri-based club are 17th in the 2026 NPFL table, with 45 points from 35 matches, and Mallen’s contract runs until the summer of 2028.

Mallen arrives from Solution FC, who compete in the Nigeria National League. He becomes the latest player added to the Kun Khalifat squad during the close-season preparations, with the club working to reshape their group before the next campaign.

Kun Khalifat’s 2026 record stands at 12 wins, nine draws and 14 defeats, with 38 goals scored and 38 conceded. Their position in the table reflects a season in which they have remained in the lower part of the standings, despite producing a strong finish in their recent fixtures.

The club’s last five matches have brought four wins and one draw. They defeated Wikki Tourist 3-1, Abia Warriors 2-0 away, Kano Pillars 2-1 and Warri Wolves 3-0, while drawing 1-1 at Plateau United. The sequence has given Kun Khalifat an unbeaten run across those five matches.

Mallen’s arrival comes after Kun Khalifat lost some of their key players during the summer. The goalkeeper will therefore join a squad undergoing changes as the club prepares for another NPFL campaign. His deal gives the club a long-term option in goal through 2028.

Kun Khalifat avoided relegation on the final day of last season, and their next listed fixture is away to Abia Warriors on August 30, 2026. That match will come in the 2026 NPFL season and will be another opportunity for the club to build on their recent run while integrating their latest signing.
