NWFL champions Edo Queens add four players ahead of new season

Reigning Nigeria Women Football League champions Edo Queens have added four players to their squad before the start of the new season. The Benin-based club is preparing for both continental qualification and the defence of its domestic title.

The new arrivals are Kemi Adegbuyi, Ifeoma Ikenokwalu, Tarnum Dooshima and Vera Samuel. All four have joined the champions as Edo Queens assemble their squad for the 2026-27 NWFL campaign.

Adegbuyi arrives from FC Robo Queens, while Ikenokwalu has moved from Rivers United. Dooshima and Samuel have both switched from Bayelsa Queens, giving Edo Queens additions from three different clubs in the women’s league.

The four players have already joined their new teammates. Their integration comes as Edo Queens prepare for a season that will begin with a qualification challenge outside Nigeria before the club turns its attention to retaining the league crown.

Edo Queens are scheduled to compete in the WAFU B Women’s Champions League qualification next month. That assignment will provide the reigning NWFL champions with their first stated route towards continental competition in the new campaign.

The club will also seek to remain at the top of Nigerian women’s football in the 2026-27 season. Edo Queens enter that campaign as the holders of the NWFL title, while the arrival of Adegbuyi, Ikenokwalu, Dooshima and Samuel increases the number of players available to the champions as they pursue both targets.
