NPFL: Kwara United sign defender Onyeure from Yobe Desert Stars

Kwara United have added defender Onyeure Uche Daniel from Yobe Desert Stars as the NPFL club rebuilds for the new campaign.

Kwara United have signed defender Onyeure Uche Daniel from Yobe Desert Stars ahead of the new campaign. The move adds to the club’s squad-building work after they finished 10th in the 2026 Nigeria Professional Football League with 50 points from 38 matches.

Onyeure arrives from Yobe Desert Stars, who compete in the Nigeria National League. Kwara United announced the signing as part of preparations for the season ahead, with the club working to assemble a more competitive squad.

The transfer is the latest in a busy recruitment period for the Harmony Boys. Kwara United have already announced 16 other new signings as they reshape their team for the new campaign. Onyeure’s arrival gives the club another defender as they prepare for their next league programme.

Kwara United’s 2026 record comprised 13 wins, 11 draws and 14 defeats. They scored 35 goals and conceded 35, leaving them with an even goal balance after 38 matches. Their final position placed them in the middle section of the table rather than among the leading sides.

Their recent results show an uneven run. They lost 4-0 away to Bayelsa United, then responded with a 2-0 home win over Enyimba. A 2-2 draw at Niger Tornadoes followed, before victories against Barau FC and a goalless draw away to Shooting Stars.

Kwara United’s next listed fixture is at home against Kano Pillars on 30 August 2026 in the Nigeria Professional Football League. The match will be their next opportunity to put the squad changes, including Onyeure’s addition, into competitive use.
