Port City FC beat Vision FC 1-0 in 2026 Accra City Invitational
Newly promoted Ghana Premier League side Port City FC opened the 2026 Accra City Invitational Tournament with a 1-0 win over Vision FC.
Port City FC began the 2026 Accra City Invitational Tournament with a 1-0 victory over Vision FC on Friday, securing a narrow win in the competition’s opening match. The newly promoted Ghana Premier League side made the decisive result count as it started its pre-season campaign positively.
The match was played at the Hearts Africa Academy Complex, where Port City FC and Vision FC produced a closely fought contest. Both teams competed strongly as they sought to take maximum points from the first fixture of the tournament.
Port City FC’s single-goal margin reflected the tight nature of the game. Vision FC stayed in contention throughout, but Port City FC held on to finish the opening fixture with the win and begin the invitational tournament on a positive note.
The competition has been organised to help the participating clubs prepare for the 2026/27 football season. For Port City FC, the result provides an encouraging start to that preparation while also giving the newly promoted side an early success against Vision FC.
The opening-day programme also included a meeting between Hearts of Oak and Swedru All Blacks. That game ended 2-2 in regulation time before Hearts of Oak prevailed 4-3 in the penalty shootout.
Port City FC’s 1-0 success therefore stands as the first completed result of the tournament, while the second fixture was decided after the teams could not be separated during normal play. Vision FC will have to recover from the defeat as the invitational tournament continues.
