Rose Teye Bash earns Player of Match award in 1-0 WAFU B win

Ampem Darkoa Ladies began their WAFU B CAF Women’s Champions League qualifying campaign with a 1-0 victory over ASEC Mimosas, while goalkeeper Rose Teye Bash saved a penalty. Her intervention helped the Ghanaian champions protect their narrow advantage in a closely fought match.

Bash was subsequently selected as the game’s Player of the Match. The award recognised a decisive contribution from the goalkeeper, whose penalty stop prevented ASEC from drawing level after Ampem Darkoa had taken the lead.

Gloria Adomako Ameaa scored the only goal of the contest. Ampem Darkoa then had to preserve that advantage, with Bash’s save providing the key moment as the Ghanaian side held on for the win and secured three points at the start of their qualification push.

ASEC arrived as the leaders of the Ivory Coast Ligue 1, with 62 points from 30 matches. Their domestic record stood at 19 wins, five draws and six defeats, with 50 goals scored and 21 conceded. That league position underlined the difficulty of the assignment for Ampem Darkoa, despite ASEC’s defeat in the qualifier.

The Ivorian club had won two of their previous five league matches, alongside one draw and two losses. Those results included victories over San-Pédro and ISCA, a 1-1 draw away to Zoman, and 1-0 defeats against Olympique Sport d’Abobo and Bouaké. ASEC’s next listed fixture is against Kara in the CAF Champions League on September 5, 2026, while Ampem Darkoa will continue their WAFU B campaign with Bash carrying the early recognition from her performance.
